Jodi DiehlPatient Navigator

Jodi Diehl, RN, BSN, OCN, nurse patient navigator, helps guide women in breast health from a suspicious mammogram through a confirmed diagnosis, and if appropriate, treatment for cancer. Jodi graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with her BSN in 1995 and has worked at the Kishwaukee Cancer Center since 2003. Jodi has been a certified oncology nurse since 2008.

Jodi provides support and education to patients and their families, coordinates appointments for follow-up and referral, ensuring timely diagnosis, and assists in eliminating barriers to care. One goal of the program is to decrease the time from a suspicious finding to a confirmed diagnosis with a biopsy. Jodi works closely with radiologists and physicians to provide seamless communication in caring for the patient. She coordinates the care of the patients and acts as a resource for them. She teaches the MammaCare Method, the recognized standard for teaching and performing manual breast self-examinations throughout the world.

Jodi said, “I enjoy oncology because of the relationships that are formed with the patient and their families. It is rewarding. The science of oncology is extremely interesting as well because of the advancements and changes in treatments. It is always changing and there is always something new to learn. I believe that taking a holistic approach is best for patients.
